How can you speed up or slow down a reaction?
The rate of a reaction can be changed by the temperature at which the reaction is run. For example, reactions can be expedited by simply raising the temperature of the reaction itself.
What is a buffer and how do you choose the correct buffer for your experiment?
A buffer is a solution that will resist pH change when acid or base is added to it. It is best to choose a buffer that is close to the pH of your working experiment.

What is a colloid? Can you give an example?
A colloid is a mixture in which one one substance is suspended in another. This can come in many combinations. My favorite example is cheese. Cheese is considered a liquid in a solid, where the liquid is the solute and the solid is the solvent.
