Question:

We were studying exponents in class today, and I think I understood it. But In my homework there is a problem with a negative exponent: 0.5^-2 Is it a typo? If not, how do I solve it?

Ivan K.
Answer:

It is not a typo, negative exponents exist. But there is no need to worry, they are very easy to solve. If the exponent is negative, it just means, that you should divide 1 over the exponent base, but with a positive exponent: A^-1 = 1/(A^1) Let's look over your example: 0.5^-2 Dividing one over the same base, but with a positive exponent: 1/(0.5^2) Calculating the denominator: 1/0.25 And now just solving a simple fraction 4 is the answer! 0.5^-2 = 4

Question:

I have a photo of my family on the beach, and there is a some trash on the sand. How do I remove it?

Ivan K.
Answer:

Imperfections on uniformal structures like sand, dirt and concrete are very easy to fix with just a clone stamp. You can access it in the tool bar or just press S. Hold ALT key and click on the clear sample of sand, and just cover the imperfection as if it was just a normal color brush. One good trick is to make the brush size bigger, but decrease the hardness. It will make the transition smoother and almost impossible to notice. Another good trick is trying to take samples not too far away from the imperfection to avoid a shade or structure of sand that will stand out.
