Sociology Major with diverse work experiences
Tutor Satisfaction Guarantee
I am a second-year Sociology major at Grinnell College. Since being here, I have taken on a variety of leadership roles including being a student mentor, course assistant, and executive board member of the Union of Grinnell Student Dining Workers. I love to challenge myself academically, which has provided me with a holistic educational experience. I have also developed a love for teaching and helping others through my work and volunteer positions on campus and hope to continue building on top of the skills I have already acquired.
In high school, I worked as a peer-tutor in math and English. I could help students work through a problem or problem set for mathematics. For English, I could help review important topics in texts from class or help with essay writing. At Grinnell College, I worked as a course assistant for an Introduction to Sociology class. My responsibilities included meeting with students to help them understand course matter or provide guidance in any step of the essay-writing process. I also led a few workshops to fine-tune presentation, writing, and...

Pre-Orientation Peer Connections Program (PCPOP) at Grinnell College, Student Mentor
2019 - Present
As a PCPOP Mentor, my first role was to take part in organizing, planning, and leading events and programming for a week-long orientation for around 30 first-year students. After the week of orientation, I was given two mentees that I meet with on a regular basis to make myself a resource for them should they need help academically, socially, emotionally, etc. My main role as mentor is to help the first-years navigate this new environment and help them build a support network.
Otero Prada LLC, Painting Instructor Assistant
2018 - Present
When in St. Louis, I work for Otero Prada LLC, which puts on art instructional sessions for organizations and individuals. I serve as an assistant to Luisa Otero, the founder and owner of Otero Prada LLC. My responsibilities include tending to the needs of those we are teaching, giving constructive advice, and making sure the session goes smoothly.
Grinnell College Sociology Department, Introduction to Sociology Course Assistant
2019 - 2020
As a course assistant, I attended class with 15 students and met with them on a regular basis to either go over content from class or assist in the writing process. I could help develop a thesis, create an outline, organize an essay, and offer feedback on drafts. I also led a few workshops outside of class to help develop presentation, outlining, and writing skills.
SCOPE, Communications Project Manager
2016 - 2017
One of my roles as Communications Project Manager at SCOPE, a St. Louis based nonprofit, was to help organize and participate in various outreach events around St. Louis (Fair St. Louis and Taste of St. Louis, for example) that served upwards of 1,000 people. At these events, I managed volunteers as well as work the booths, including an educational stand that introduced children of all ages to simple biological concepts like DNA through a fun and interactive demonstration.
