About Megan

About Megan
Hi there! My name is Megan May and I'm excited to work with you to better learn. My background in education is a Bachelor of Arts in Biology, with minors in Spanish and Sociology from DePauw University. I also have a PhD from MIT and Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution where I completed microbiology research about pollution in the ocean. I love working with students of all ages to discover the wonder of science. In my spare time, I like to hang out with my boyfriend and our dog (a Great Dane named Norah). I also love watching Netflix...

Teaching Experience

Teaching Experience
I have formally taught at Bard College as part of their Citizen Science program. While there, I taught an intensive cornerstone class on water contamination and education to a small group of first and second year college students. I integrated students' interest in social justice by explaining water and education issues within societal context (e.g. redlining affecting education, political power affecting Flint water quality). I also have a wide variety of informal science education in the community from kindergarteners to senior citizens.
