Subject: R Programming
I've taken introductory coding courses and I can't get anywhere with R; how can I make my efforts operational into tangible results?
The magic of R / RStudio programming is that it is very broad. That also makes it challenging since R programming is very sensitive to errors as minuscule as capital letters. The best way to remedy that is not only through instruction but to incorporate resources and ready-made packages into our practice sets.
What's the point of learning Spanish if most people speak Spanish and I can use the internet to translate anything?
Half a billion people speak Spanish and share hundreds of different cultures, dialects, and traditions. Without knowing Spanish we are barely scratching the surface to these rich cultures. Besides, through learning Español we can not only broaden our world view but especially, see ourselves through a different lens.
Why should we care about sociology? Aren't social sciences pontificating about pseudo-theories?
Sociology is the study of the social world. As with any science, the underlying issues it researches are not immediately apparent. Similarly, in social interactions, we miss out on a majority of issues surrounding our social life. Sociology explores these issues deeper through the study of inequality, social structures like organizations, governments, and nations, and many other factors.
