I taught at the Arizona women's prison for one year. I prepared and facilitated weekly 2 hour classes that had 3-20 students. Together, we explored an array of topics that satisfied their interests, and I gave them writing tools that they learned to apply to their weekly writing assignments. As a learning instructor for the Pen Project, I received creative written work from incarcerated students, which I read and analyzed.
