What is the difference between assonance, alliteration, plosive and sibilance?
Assonance is the repetition of vowel sounds; e.g. How Now Brown Cow (repetition of "ow" sound) Alliteration is the repetition of sounds or letters; e.g. Ticklish Terry Tried Tacos (repetition of T) Plosives are sounds that you make with a sudden stop of air; e.g. Pump, Bump, Dump, King (P,B,D,K are all plosives) Sibilance is the repetition of 's' sounds: e.g. slithering snakes seek solitary solace (often used in relation to snakes or snake allusions)
Describe the simplified process of DNA to protein
DNA has a double helix structure and holds the blueprints for all the proteins in an organism. When DNA transcription takes place, the helix is unwound and RNA polymerase reads off the appropriate nucleotides to create a strand of RNA. This RNA strand contains introns and exons, the introns are removed by the splicesosome, leaving the RNA strand with only exons. These exons are then read by the ribosome, who's small and large subunit assemble around the strand. tRNA enters and exits the ribosome attaching the corresponding amino acid to the corresponding 3 nucleotide codon. This string of amino acids make up the primary structure of the protein.
It take me 4 hours to clean the kitchen, it takes my brother 6 hours to clean the kitchen. How many hours would it take us if we worked together?
It takes me an hour to clean 1/4 of the kitchen. In that same hour, my brother can clean 1/6 of the kitchen. To make it easier we convert both of the fractions to the same denominator, in this case 4*6=24. So it takes me an hour to clean 6/24 of the kitchen and in that same time my brother will clean 4/24 of the kitchen. Therefore, every hour 10/24 of the kitchen is cleaned. This means it'll take 2.4 hours to get the whole kitchen cleaned!
