How should you teach basic math?
Basic math should be taught with a clear objective. (What are we going to learn?) It should be directly taught and students should practice with some guidance. After guided practice students should be given a check for understanding. (Quiz/Exit Ticket) Then students can begin independent practice. It may be cliche but when it comes to basic math, "Practice makes perfect."

What were the causes and effects of the Great Depression?
There were a number of factors contributing to the causes of the Great Depression. One major cause was the 1929 Stock Market Crash. The Dow Jones Industrial Average dipped over 10% in one day. Investors began to panic and sell shares at an unprecedented rate. Prior to 1929 there had been tremendous economic growth throughout the country. This growth lead to large income inequalities. These income inequalities played an additional role in the many causes of the Great Depression. The effects of the Great Depression were far and wide. Unemployment skyrocketed to astronomical levels maxing out at almost 25% of the population in 1933. In addition, banks began to fail because Americans began to withdraw their money at great rates. Overall, the Great Depression had many causes and effects that created a very dark time for America. Nevertheless, Franklin D. Roosevelt, The New Deal and many other factors helped to pull the US out of the Great Depression.
What is the best way to influence student achievement in education?
I believe the foundation of education is a great teacher/tutor. The most influential factor contributing to student achievement is the teacher. Technology is a great way to enhance a teacher's/tutor's instruction. I have used technology to interact with students, staff, and peers through webinars, interactive smart boards, etc. I believe that building educators to understand and instruct using core values/curriculum along with technology is an effective way to improve school achievement.
