Question:

A patient presents with pain in the upper back and neck area. They complain of difficulty when looking over their right shoulder while driving. Through palpation you note that there is protrusion as well as a marked resistance of the left transverse process of T1. What is the dynamic listing you have found?

Answer:

The left TVP of T1 is more prominent and doesn't move well when palpated. This tells you that the body of the vertebra is rotated to the left causing the TVP on that side to become more posterior. If the body is rotated to the left then there is a body right rotation restriction.
