Question:

Which is the stronger acid HClO or HBrO?

Inactive
Mackenzie T.
Answer:

pKa is an assessment of acid strength. The higher the pKa, the weaker the acid. HClO is a stronger acid so it will have a lower pKa value. Cl is more electronegative than Br. The O-H bond in HClO is polarized more than the O-H bond in HBrO.

Question:

Describe 2 advantages that an endoskeleton provides over an exoskeleton..

Mackenzie T.
Answer:

Endoskeletons protect essential internal organs like the brain, heart, and lungs. The endoskeleton provides particular protection to the areas of the body that are most critical and vulnerable, and is more advantageous than having the general protective factor of an exoskeleton. Evolutionary speaking, endoskeletons allow for the growth of larger organisms. Endoskeletons can also grow largely without molting and can repair easily if damaged. The process of molting leaves the animal very vulnerable, as they temporarily do not have a protective exoskeleton.

Question:

What is the best way to "memorize" all the systems involved in anatomy?

Inactive

Answer:

I like to remind students that anatomy is one of the only subjects where the material directly pertains to oneself. Harsh memorization techniques set students up to forget all the material once the exam is over. Now what's the point of that? I have created various memorization techniques that make anatomy make sense and allow the terms to be stored in long-term memory.
