Question:

What happens to the price and quantity of apples when a marketing company runs successful advertisements?

When a company runs successful advertisements this increases the demand for the specific product which means the demand curve would shift outwards. When the demand curve shifts outward, the market for apples reaches a new equilibrium with a higher price and quantity of apples.

Question:

For what value of y is true that: 7(y+4)-3(y-5)=6y+35

Multiply the 7 by the term in parenthesis 7(y+4)=7y+28. Now multiply the -3 by the term in parenthesis so you have 3(y-5)=-3y+15. Now on the left side of the equation you have 7y+28-3y+15. Combine like terms so that 7y-3y=4y and 28+15=43. The left side of the equation now simplifies to 4y+43=6y+35. Subtract the 4y on both sides and 35 on both sides. The equation reads 2y=8. Divide both sides by 2 to get the answer, y=4.
