What are personas and why are they important while creating technologies products?
Personas is a way of creating a more empathetic report of user research results, where all the data is analyzed to create representative fictional users that reflect clusters of needs and common characteristics. The main objective is that product developers have a less abstract idea for whom they are developing the product, thus having an easier way to recall wide range representativeness.

What are the main phases of product design methodologies?
Overall, user-centered methodologies involve: 1. an initial phase of research where you need to understand pain points and needs; 2. followed by a creative / divergent phase where several concepts and prototypes are conceived and 3. finished by a convergent / evaluative phase when the best solutions are aggregated into a single product to be polished and launched.

What's the most important factor for a startup regarding user base growth: acquisition or retention?
It depends on the stage of maturity from each product, newborn projects usually requires an engaged audience first (meaning you have the "right" value proposition) so that later you can focus on scaling that through user acquisition tactics.
