What is matter and what is the most basic unit of matter? Name the common subatomic particles?
Matter is anything that occupies space. I like to say this sentence to my students to help them understand, " I matter, you matter, and everything matters!." So whatever we see around us is matter. And there are so many other things that are not visible to the naked eye and they are also matter. The most basic unit of matter is called an atom, It comprises of three common subatomic particles. They are namely the electron, proton, and neutron.

What is the difference between mitosis and meiosis cell division? In which cells do they each take place? Which of them is more important?
Both Mitosis and Meiosis are types of cell division. As we know that cells are the basic units of life and that they need to grow and reproduce, hence they must undergo cell divisions to increase in number. Mitosis is the type of cell division that occurs in every cell that requires growth and maturation, for example, a bone cell, a muscle cell, and a skin cell. Whereas Meiosis is the type of cell division that takes place only in reproductive cells such as the egg and the sperm cell also known as the germ cells. Both of the cell divisions are equally important in their own special way. Without mitosis, all the cells will remain in a growth-retarded stage and life would not be possible. Without meiosis, there would be no formation of germ cells and hence no reproduction.

What is the human vertebral column? How many vertebral bones are present in the human vertebral column? Name the different names of the vertebral sets along with the number of bones present in each.
The vertebral column is also known as the entire backbone and it is the central component of the axial skeleton in the human body. The vertebral column acts as a flexible support system of the body, transferring body weight to the lower limbs and also provides bony protection to the spinal cord present inside it. The vertebral column is composed of 32-33 vertebrae bones. There are 7 cervical vertebrae, 12 thoracic vertebrae, 5 lumbar vertebrae, and 3-4 coccygeal vertebrae.
