What is the difference between the "Pretérito Perfeito Simples" and the "Pretérito Imperfeito do Indicativo"?
Although they both narrate past actions, the difference lies within what type of action is narrated. The "Pretérito Perfeito Simples" narrates an action that took place and was completed in the past. The "Pretérito Imperfeito do Indicativo" is used in order to narrate habitual actions which occurred in the past.
Will all the monetary and fiscal stimulus announced in response to COVID-19 push inflation up?
For now that's just a possibility, it’s too early to say for sure. In theory, more liquidity in the economic system should push prices of assets, goods, and services higher, but central banks in Europe and Japan have been trying to increase inflation for the last decade without much success. They've enacted stimulative policies in the past in order to raise inflation, which didn't work out until now, so the effectiveness of additional stimulative policies will be lower.
How should I protect myself against the financial markets volatility caused by the COVID-19?
The key word is diversification. Diversify your investments between different currencies, markets (countries) and asset classes. If you want extra stability, invest in the reserve currencies: JPY, CNY, USD, GBP and EUR. These are the currencies that investors will turn to if things get out of hand.
