How does speaking a second language help in everyday life?
Learning a language other than your native language is an incredibly valuable skill, especially now as the world gets smaller with the use of technology. Knowing a second language not only opens up the opportunity to travel and communicate with other cultures, but it also shows the world that you are excited to learn about cultures that may be different from your own.

Why should I focus on learning math?
While I've always been fascinated by math, it may seem very abstract and difficult to fit into your everyday life. However, the cognitive skills and processes that are developed when learning math are skills that will truly carry over to every other part of your life. When you look at a problem, and you are confident that there is a way to solve it, that is how you will continue to succeed. Math will teach you these valuable problem solving skills.
Subject: English as a Second Language
What does it mean to truly know a language?
To me, there are many possible answers to this question. To sum it up, from my own personal experience learning Spanish, I have found that truly knowing the language means that you can communicate effectively. This doesn't mean that you always have to have perfect grammar, although grammar should be taught, but rather that you can get your point across to the person that you are communicating with without using outside resources. It also means being able to understand the person talking to you enough to effectively respond.
