Subject: Early Childhood Education
How would you address a wide range of skills and abilities in your classroom?
Knowing that each and every student is different, taking different approaches assisting the students and finding the way that suits the individual the best. The most important thing is to not be afraid to try new methods and approaches and in fact seeks them out knowing that the teacher/learner relationship is an evolving process. Almost anyone can become a teacher but I believe that it takes a really special person to be an effective teacher. I think with my college experience and growing up in a family full of educators, that I will be able to inspire students and create a lasting impression in their lives. I will be sensitive and have empathy to my students’ needs. I want to provide insight and wisdom to the kids. I will be enthusiastic to come to school every day, knowing that every day is a chance to change a child’s life. Why should a student be excited about learning when their teacher is not excited about teaching? I believe that no teacher can be great without loving what they do. To excite and inspire a student requires excitement and a passion for the material itself. I will be dedicated to my students, with a unwavering commitment to each one of their education needs and well-being. I will be flexible and adapt to each student specific needs. Last but not least, I believe I have the ability to bring out the best in my students. I will recognize each and every one of my students potential to become great people, and I will inspire them to do so.
Describe the skills or attributes you believe are necessary to be an outstanding teacher.
In order to be an outstanding teacher you need to be committed to doing the best job that you can possibly do. For a teacher, that means staying current and up-to-date on the research both in teaching methods and classroom content and then implementing the new content and methods in the classroom. Another great attribute of being an outstanding teacher is to be able to accurately assess where your students are, meet them there, and then figure out the best way to help them move forward. A successful teacher conducts classes in ways that foster self-respect and build confidence in the students. A great teacher is not afraid to seek support or advice from other professionals, and ask questions when necessary. An outstanding teacher takes full responsibility for what goes on in the classroom, and constantly evaluates his/her own performance and makes changes accordingly, and also is not afraid to try new methods and approaches and in fact seeks them out knowing that the teacher/learner relationship is an evolving process.
