Describe 2 Symbols that can be found in Hamlet, a play by William Shakespeare.
The gravedigger: The gravedigger in Hamlet symbolizes that everyone is equal in death. That no matter what we have done, whether we go to heaven or hell, or even all the good in the world, we are all buried in the same 6ft hole at the end of the day. The gravediggers also symbolize that we should not be frightened by the idea of death, as it is inevitable. The Skull: As Hamlet talks to the skull, he is not just talking to a piece of bone from a human. He is talking to it and fixating on the inevitability of death. The skull symbolizes the physical consequences of death and that each one of us will just be bones once we die. The physical consequences of death, show hamlet how little death means in the first place. That not himself nor other characters like Polonius can evade it.
