The pluperfect subjunctive.
Hiking through the woods, you discover a small, sedentary organism. Curious, you take a sample and take it back to your lab. You discover that the organism's cells have walls, no chloroplasts, and nuclei. Is it most likely to be a plant, a fungus, or an animal?
In English, to emphasize a word in a sentence, we stress the word with out voice. This is often represented in italics, as in, "*I* didn't tell her." How would you express this in French?
You would express this in French by making the emphasized word redundant, "*Moi,* Je ne l'ai pas dit a elle."
