How would you find the height of a tree if you know the angle of elevation and the horizontal distance from the base of that tree.
Since you know the horizontal distance and the angle of elevation, you can take the Tangent of the angle and set it equal to the unknown height of the tree over the known horizontal distance. In other words, Tan X = Opposite / Adjacent
How do you find the area formula for a parallelogram?
If you draw a diagonal through opposite angles you will have 2 congruent triangles. Since the area of the triangle is 1/2 Base times Height and you have two of them, the area of the parallelogram is B*H
If you were offered a job for thirty consecutive days and had two choices for your salary, which would you pick: 1) I will pay you $50.000 for the first day and $10,000 each day after. Or 2) I will pay you a penny the first day and double it each day after that.
Although option 1 yields you $79,000 in just thirty days, Option 2 yields you over $500 million. I'd take option 2.
