Math is used every day in our lives, even though we may not think about it. We use math skills to tell time, purchase items with money, measure ingredients and count objects. Although Math may not seem as important as English Language Arts, it makes students better problem solvers, critical thinkers and can be used as a universal language.

Studies have shown that when resources are invested into students in their primary years, not as much money, time and interventions will be needed later on in a student's educational career. This is a critical period of learning in which literacy and numeracy skills, social-emotional and behavioral skills are developed.

English Language Arts learning is a vital part of any students' Early Childhood experience. The focus on reading, writing, speaking, listening and viewing are all important skills for a English learner to possess. You can practice any of these skills within the Five Big Ideas of reading. These skills can be taught in a scope and sequence or integrated within other subject areas for cross curricular learning.
