Question:

Describe the electronegativity trend in the periodic table.

Nikhil K.
Answer:

So, as you move down a group on the periodic table, the electronegativity of an element decreases because the increased number of energy levels puts the outer electrons very far away from the pull of the nucleus. Electronegativity increases as you move from left to right across a period on the periodic table.

Question:

Compare prokaryotic and eukaryotic cells.

Nikhil K.
Answer:

Prokaryotic cells have naked DNA which is found in the cytoplasm in a region named the nucleoid. On the other hand, eukaryotes have chromosomes that are made up of DNA and protein. These chromosomes are found in the nucleus enclosed in a nuclear envelope. Prokaryotes do not have any mitochondria whereas eukaryotes do. In prokaryotes there are either no or very few organelles bounded by a single membrane in comparison to eukaryotes which have many of them including the Golgi apparatus and the endoplasmic reticulum.

Question:

The sum of two consecutive even integers is 26. What are the two numbers?

Nikhil K.
Answer:

If I know that two number are even and consecutive, that means they have to differ by 2. if I call my first number x, based on what i just said, I can call the second number x + 2. Since the question states that the sum of two numbers is 26, that means x (my first number) + (x + 2) (my second number should add up to 26. x + x + 2 = 26 x + x will add up to 2x Now i have: 2x + 2 = 26 I can subtract 2 from both sides to get 2x = 24 Now by dividing both sides by 2, I get x = 12 x is my first number, which is 12. My second number is x + 2, which is 14. Therefore my two numbers are 12 and 14.
