What two categories of igneous rock are there and what textures do you use to identify them?
The teo categoties of igneous rock are plutonic and volcanic. A volcanic rock is produced by eruption and solidifies on or near the earth surface. Plutonic rocks have solidified beneath the earth surface and has a phaneritic texture. The three textures are phaneritic, porphyritic, and aphanitic. Phaneritic texture has grain sizes that are large enough to see with the naked eye, this forms by cooling slowly deep underground. Aphanitic texture has crystalline texture that can not be seen to the naked eye. These rocks have formed by cooling quickly above the earth surface. Porphyritic texture has large crystals in very fine grains ground mass.

There are 3 different types of tectonic boundaries. What are they and describe how they work.
The three types of tectonic plate boundaries are transform, divergent and convergent. Transform boundarie are when two tectonic plates slide past each other in different directions. An example of this is the San Andreas Fault. A convergent boundary is two tectonic plates coming together. In most cases, and depending on the types of tectonic plates (oceanic or continental) the denser of the two plates will be subducted. The third tectonic boundary is the divergent plate boundary. This is when two plates are pulling away from each other. An example of this is the Mid-Atlantic ridge.
