About Alisha
Hello! My name is Alisha and I am a recent Stanford graduate. I studied Bioengineering. I have experience with research and even working on a team to develop a medical device called OpticLine. OpticLine aims to detect infection earlier in peritoneal dialysis patients and has won a national award called KidneyX Phase 1. I currently work as a researcher at UCSF to find a therapeutic CRISPR/Cas9 gene editing strategy to cure C9orf72, which is the leading genetic cause of frontotemporal dementia and amyotrophic lateral sclerosis.

I was a teacher during my time at Stanford through two programs: Splash and HELP. For Splash, I taught high school students how to get involved with research. For HELP, I taught health education to 6th graders. In high school, I taught Spanish to elementary students during an after-school program.
