What is a commonly used diatonic mode for sea shanties and sea songs, sung by sailor mates scrubbing the main deck as they set to sea?
Dorian mode - minor scale with raised 6th degree.
What is the difference in how a trill was used during the baroque period vs in the romantic period and on?
During the baroque and early classical eras, the trill was to be begun on the semitone above the principle note. This changed with Mozart (because he was a boss), and trills began to be initiated by first playing the principle note, alternating with the semitone above. For both, it was usually anticipated that a turn would follow (a single alternation with the semitone below) before ending on the principle note.
