About Mercedes

United to Serve at UT Southwestern Medical Center, Translation and Education Chair

As part of a nationwide volunteer initiative, UTSW’s United to Serve goal is to offer services that cater to the health care and educational needs of the local underserved community through its annual health fair held each year in the Spring Semester. My mission was to translate all the written material to be used in the health fair, as well as to promote the event to the Spanish-speaking community of the Dallas area.

My main investigations were in the molecular research of chronic heart failure remodeling. Most of my research consisted in primary cell culture experimentation, as well as mouse model that mimicked chronic heart failure. My research lead to the successful defense of my thesis dissertation in the Fall of 2016.
