Question:

Why is it important to find good resources in research?

Answer:

In order to be an informed life-long learner, people need to understand the value of research, which is the collected study and review of information to form new knowledge. Researchers need to know how the Internet works The Internet is based on Library Science, powered by keywords and algorithms, etc., which also means researchers need to understand keywords and subdomains (.com, .org. etc.)--for basic research. Subdomains indicate where the research is coming from. Keywords are used in simple searches, and are also used in databases--they hold weight in terms of search results. For in-depth, scholarly research, peer-reviewed research resources are required, and for the most part, this means databases. Peer-reviewed research means the information has been checked by experts in the field/subject area. This is crucial for researchers to form new knowledge on a topic. So, why is this important? Without expert, evaluated information that has been formed without bias, learners will not be able to develop well-rounded and informed knowledge to apply to the real world. This has an array of implications, from making wise personal choices, to how we function as a world. How would a learner know the implications of the long-term effects of medications, their job choices, or how they engage in historical and political events without developed research skills?

Question:

Describe the importance of including SEL in learning?

Answer:

Social Emotional Learning is an opportunity to get to know students and to discuss real world problems and solutions. It helps educators bridge gaps in classes, from knowledge gaps to cultural gaps. When SEL is used in classroom settings, it engages students and educators. This develops a sense of community, and then even more learning can begin. This is particularly important in virtual settings, where there may also be a sense of disjunct if this type of learning is new to educators and students, whether it is new technology or a distance learning setting. It draws learners in and helps them find common ground.

Question:

As the Coronavirus Pandemic progresses, many businesses have decided to start manufacturing products such as hand sanitizer. What are some pros and cons of this type of business reinvention?

Answer:

One of the pros would be creating a business culture that meets the needs of customers and being in-tune with what is happening in the world--as in, building a brand that meets these needs. One of the cons would be meeting safety standards and engaging in professional development in order to make this change--and then being aware of when this might need to change again.
