Question:

I need to write an essay about the Black Lives Movement, and I have to cite multiple sources. I have to admit: I get most my news from my social media feed. I tried Google, and it turned up a million un-academic articles. Suggestions?

Answer:

I'm glad you asked! A great place to start is your school's databases. Databases work like Google, but they only provide unbiased information from vetted sources. You will have to sift through less results to find credible information. Databases also provide citations that you can easily cut and paste into your Works Cited page. If you don't have access to databases you should narrow your Google search to sites that end in .gov/.edu/.org. The information from these noncommercial sites tend to be less biased. I can help you cite these sources as well!

Question:

I need to write an essay about which book has had the greatest impact on my life. Of Mice and Men is my favorite book, but I don't know where to begin. Can you help?

Answer:

I'd be happy to help! Of Mice and Men is a great choice, because it has many themes. Ideally, you will determine 3 central concepts that you can focus your essay on. Also, a great quote that illustrates these concepts will help anchor your passion for the literature. Can you tell me what appealed most to you in the book?

Answer:

I'd be happy to help! A correctly formatted name header consists of your name, your instructor's name, the course title and the date the assignment is due. It should look like this: Sam Sample Professor Smith English 101 27 July 2020 Be sure to double space it as well!
