Shakespeare's Julius Caesar.
What's the difference between James Joyce's and Virginia Woolf's stream of consciousness?
James Joyce’s stream-of-consciousness gets around the untranslability of the human condition by trying to capture every thought that passes through the mind, not selectively picking and choosing the easily digestible but laying them all out, placing them on a level playing field. Joyce packs in every observation and imaginative thought to show the depravity and mundanity of an average person’s regular thought process. Virginia Woolf’s style is more traditionally constructed because feelings and emotion are fundamentally related to the thoughts we think and the words we use. In order to attempt to explain humanity, she filters her thoughts through her emotions, thus brinnging in a more whole picture of the self.
