Correct the following sentence and explain why: Jack sawed through the mirror window and sawed his mother. She look unhinged.
The correct form of this sentence would be: "Jack saw through the mirror window and saw his mother. She looked unhinged." The verbs within this sentence (sawed, look) were the first to sort out. The former is incorrect grammar as "sawed" is not a word. The correct form of the past tense third person singular "to see" would be saw. In the case of the latter verb, it is a matter of tenses. "Look" is present, whereas the correct form, following the same time of the first sentence, would be the past tense "looked."

What lead to the creation of the Federal Meat Inspection Act?
In the late 1800's and early 1900's, almost all of the meat packaging industry held unwritten rules for which animals (healthy versus infected/ill) were to be butchered and packaged for consumers, but none of these were federally regulated nor enforced necessarily by higher ups in the employment chain. Inspectors and overseers of workers went home at a certain point each day, and it was after that point that employees within the meat industry could take advantage of their leave and thus lack of supervision and package more meat, using both the healthy and sick animals, regardless of the severe health hazards and implications. The exact number of those affected by these irresponsibilities and greed/want to adhere to the capitalist demand of the United States is unknown.
What major event triggered the rise of U.S. modernism in American English literature?
The event that began the rise of modernism in literature was the First World War. A new age of women working in the industrial field while men went overseas to war invited new ideas and new interpretations of old ideals, such as "a woman's place is in the kitchen" and "the man is the head of the house." Specifically in the case of American literature, famous and acclaimed writers like Ernest Hemingway and F. Scott Fitzgerald took inspiration from the now returning soldiers (once the war had ended) for their characters and plots. A sense of cynicalism and self awareness rose in novels, and writers were becoming less censored with their writings, wanting to bring to light the true horrors of war.
