A friend of mine posted the following statement on his Facebook page yesterday: "Everyone is right, that's why we're all wrong." Is this a truth to live by?
This statement cannot be taken on the face value. The statement is jocular, and besides, it's diabolically perverse. Who is the speaker? Obviously, the person who believes we're all wrong. If so, why does the speaker, on the same breath, state, "Everyone is right?" Clearly, the purpose of the contradictory statement is humor.

What's wrong with his sentence? Having finished my coffee, the waitress offered me a cake.
Please, as always, be careful with the placement of your subject. You need to identify who is performing the action - the subject. Funny thing, in this sentence, the subject is missing! Try torephrase it: As I have finished my coffee, the waitress offered me a cake.
