How does the ocean affect climate?
The ocean absorbs the majority of the sun's energy that enters earths atmosphere and is not reflected back out into space and the ocean's current transfer that energy to different places around the world, changing the climate. For example, the gulf stream carries warm water from the equator up to Europe which is why Europe is warmer than Canada even though they are at similar latitudes.
What is the tragedy of the commons?
It is a theory where there is a shared resource and individuals use that resource with their own self-interest in mind which is contrary to the common good.

An animal with a vertebrae that is warm blooded (maintains its own body temperature), has fur at some point in its life, females secretes milk for their young, and typically give live birth
