Question:

For what value of x does 9x-5=3x+4?

Pranati S.

First we must isolate the variable we want to solve for, x. That is, we want to have all the terms with x in them on one side of the equal sign, and everything else on the other side. Thus, we will first subtract 3x from both sides. This will give us the new equation: 6x-5=4 Now to complete the isolation of x, we will move the -5 to the other side of the equal sign by adding five to both sides. This will give the new equation: 6x=9. To finally solve for x, we will need to get rid of the 6 on the left side. The 6 is being multiplied to x, so to get rid of it, we will do the opposite of multiplication, division. We will divide each side by 6. This gives us x=9/6 by dividing the numerator and denominator by 3, we can simplify this to x=3/2. And that is your answer!

Question:

Which features are found only in eukaryotes, only in prokaryotes, or in both eukaryotes and prokaryotes?

All cells are enclosed by a plasma membrane. This membrane is constructed of a phospholipid bilayer. Ribosomes make proteins for a cells and are found in both prokaryotic and eukaryotic cells. DNA is the genetic material of all cell-based life. Eukaryotic cells store their DNA in a membrane-bound nucleus, but prokaryotic cells do not contain a nucleus. Instead, the nuclei region is where the DNA is located. Eukaryotes have membrane-bound compartments, or organelles. In contrast, prokaryotes usually do not have membrane-bound organelles.
