What's your favorite subject?
Trigonometry! Talking Trigonometry in high school was my favorite class. Working with different properties of a triangle such as sin, cos and tan added another aspect to math that was super fascinating. The problems all had multiple steps to solve before reaching your solution which parallels a puzzle to me.
Does pre-algebra pertain to the real-world?
Of course! Math is applicable in every situation used throughout our busy lifestyles. In pre-algebra though, there is a lot of skill building (as in years past as well) and concepts to understand before moving onto Algebra I. So although at times it may not seem applicable, it is super important to master the basics before moving into other math classes.
Is Algebra really hard?
A lot of students always tell me how Algebra I is very challenging to them and that they do not understand the concepts. When I sit down with these students and explain the information in a way that pertains to their way of learning and what they connect to in life, the light bulb goes off. Working one-on-one with students, especially in math, is very beneficial for everyone.
