What are the dangers of a state-run media and how would that effect information that was presented to the citizens of that particular country?
As in the now-extinct Soviet Union, a government controlled media (Pravda), will present the information that the government suggests or demands. The citizens of a country with a government controlled media will be denied all of the true facts, and any facts they do receive will favor the government's position. Thus, the opinions and thoughts of the citizens of the country will be unduly influenced, by the denial of their ability to make their own complete conclusions on the issues presented.

In Greek Mythology, Pandora's box was meant to keep the world's evils contained to protect humankind. Upon opening the box, Pandora released woe onto the Earth. Have their been any recent portrayals of this basic premise on film?
The Island in the television show, LOST, represented the source of light/life for the Earth, as well as a cork to prevent all of man's evils from flowing out and covering the world. To keep this cork in place, the Island must always have a protector, someone to keep the cork in place. This version of good protecting humankind from evil differs from Pandora's box, in that Pandora was not aware that she was the tasked with protecting.
