How can you determine the chirality of a compound?
Chirality is when a carbon is connected to 4 different groups. If there are 4 different compounds connected to the carbon, next we have to number the priority groups based on molecular weight. Next, see if sequence of the priority groups goes in a clockwise (R) or counterclockwise (S). Next find the hydrogen and see if it is out of the plane or in the plane. If it is in the plane, the R/S designation is swapped between the two. If the hydrogen is out of the plane, the configuration stays the same.
