What is the difference between "I have been to France" (present perfect simple) and "I went to France last year?" (past simple)
"I have been to France" refers to general experience with no specific time, and "I went to France" is a specific time in the past. We NEVER use the present perfect simple with a time indicator (ex: I have been to France last year).
What makes a good essay?
A good essay requires organization and clarity. The introduction (tell me what you are going to tell me), is a summary of your body paragraphs that includes a strong conclusive thesis that outlines your argument. Your body paragraphs (tell me) should change from one subject to the next and must include transition words (ex: first, second, finally). Examples should always be provided after each point/argument. Lastly, your conclusion is a quick summary of your body paragraphs (tell me what you told me).

How did WWI change the role of women?
WWI brought women many opportunities outside domesticated life. They worked as ammunition testers, switchboard operators and stock takers. They went into every kind of factory devoted to the production of war materials, from the most dangerous posts in munition plants to the delicate sewing in aeroplane factories. After the war, women realized their worth and it is partly what prompted them to fight for the right to vote.
