Question:

Explain systems model in social work and counseling and provide an example.

Mateja P.
Answer:

According to systems theory, human behavior is best explained in terms of systems such as family, work, school, and other entities such as government and social services agencies. If we want to truly understand the complexities of a particular issue, systems theory will help see the issue from several different viewpoints - systems. Let's say that child is acting out at school. Taking a look at all the systems that the child is a part of might reveal that he or she is acting out as the parents are fighting, father just lost a job and feels like a failure, and child is not engaging in social activities with peers.

Question:

What are the 3 component's of Freud's theory of personality and what is the role of each component?

Mateja P.
Answer:

According to Freud's theory of personality, there are 3 main components: ID, EGO, and SUPEREGO. Id represents instant gratification and it relates to basic urges and needs, such as food and sex, and is the most primitive of all and is unconscious. Ego is partly conscious and partly unconscious and it balances the demands of Id and Superego. Superego is the moral conscious and it is concerned with social norms and rules.
