Question:

Should zoos still exist? Write a paragraph to support your opinion with evidence.

Yes, in my opinion zoos should still exist. There is no doubt that zoos help endangered animals by breeding them. In the book Should There Be Zoos? A Persuasive Text, it states “When babies are born, a population increases.” Therefore, the population of endangered species will increase because zoos breed the endangered animals. As you can see, when zoos breed animals it really helps endangered species and lots of other animals too.

In a multiple choice question, it is important to remember that one of the answers to the question is right there! You have a 25% chance of getting the question correct. However, you can increase that percentage if you are able to eliminate a few choices right away. And you usually don't have to do much solving. So, looking at the question, "Which fraction is closest to 1/2," right away choice A can be eliminated because 8/7 is more than one whole. In choice C, 1/2 in 24ths would be 12/24, and the choice 19/24 isn't that close so choice C can be eliminated. Choice D can be simplified by dividing the numerator and denominator by 2, giving you 1/4. 1/4 isn't that close to 1/2 so choice D can be eliminated. And then that only leaves one choice, choice B. And this choice is reasonable because 1/2 in 5ths would be 2.5/5 (even though it is not typical to write a decimal in a fraction), which is very close to 2/5.

Question:

Justin made a batch of punch for his baseball team that filled up a 15 Liter container. How many milliliters is the container?

Well, I know that 1 Liter is equal to 1000 milliliters. So if Justin has 15 Liters, that's 15 times 1 Liter. In this proportion, you need to multiply both the Liters and milliliters by 15. So 1000 milliliters times 15 is 15000. Justin's 15 Liter container is equal to 15000 milliliters.
