After taking in a deep breath, and learning to manage your time, here are a few tips to writing a strong essay. First, choose a topic, or thesis, by brainstorming. The process of brainstorming allows you to get out many ideas in a short amount of time. This also allows for the alleviation of pressure for the timed test by doing what some refer to as a "data dump". Although the information on the page may seem unusable, it is raw and quite useful when crafting and developing a well-written essay down the road. Next, narrow your focus, choose a single idea to focus on from the brainstorming completed. Choose which one seems most likely for you to expand on further without hesitation. This exercise definitely takes practice so try it out a few times. Choose 2-3 supporting subtopics to support your main idea.
