Describe the strategy of annotating in detail. Would you have to adjust the strategy in reading? How? Why?
Annotating is a method of emphasizing main ideas, major supporting details, and key terms. Annotate means to “add marks” and is a note taking system right in the textbook or reading that makes studying more efficient. You may have to adjust the strategy depending on the type of reading being asked. For example, annotating will look different with a textbook versus a novel.

Explain why critical thinking is important to reading.
Critical thinking is important to reading because it is a technique for analyzing and evaluating information and ideas, for deciding what to accept and believe. Critical thinking involves reflecting on the validity of what you have read in light of our prior knowledge and understanding of the world. Critical thinking is deciding whether the meaning is true, and whether or not you, as the reader, should support it.
