Describe how water is stored and moved underground,
Rainwater falls to the earth and is absorbed by topsoil. Then the water percolates, or filters, down to the bedrock. The water now fills the spaces between soil particles and fractured rock underground. The rainwater has become a part of the groundwater aquifer, and flows towards the area of lowest elevation. This flow is caused by pressure of the material above, gravity, and changes in elevation. These areas of lowest elevation are often called discharge zones, where the groundwater becomes surface water, usually as a lake or a river. In bedrock it can take decades or even centuries for water to reach a discharge zone, in unsorted soil and gravel, weeks.
Eugene had 30 cookies. If Eugene gave equal numbers of cookies to his 12 friends and then he ate what was left, how many cookies did each person eat?
This is a straightforward basic division problem, with a remainder, Dividing 30 by 12 gives an answer of 2, with a remainder of 6. Thus the answer is: Each friend ate 2 cookies, and Eugene ate 6.
What is the cause of global warming?
An increase of anthropogenically induced carbon dioxide emissions, coupled with a reduction of plant life across the world, resulting in a greenhouse effect. These increased gasses in the atmosphere change the way that solar radiation is processed and moved, causing a rise in the overall climatic temperature.
