What is the difference between a U.S. senator and a U.S. representative?
There are 100 senators in Congress. There are two in each state no matter what the population of the state is. The number of U.S. representatives a state has is determined by the population of that state. There are 435 representatives in Congress. Senators serve their terms for six years and representatives serve two-year terms. It is also important to note that senators can't introduce bills that raise revenue such as tax bills.
