Question:

What is a good way to capture a reader's attention?

Answer:

The best way to engage the reader is by beginning with an attention-grabbing sentence. For example, pretend that the assignment is to write about how dogs adapt to their stay away from home, in a kennel. A rather bland way of starting the article is by stating, 'Dogs often feel very anxious when they are placed in a kennel.' A more interesting way to begin might be: Rough-Rough! Dog Vacations Don't Need to Be Tough! Once the reader's attention is engaged, they are much more likely to want to continue reading the article. This is also an ideal mindset for learning new information.

What is a good way to learn proper English grammar and syntax?

Answer:

One ideal way to learn English is by listening to podcasts or interviews. It is actually unnecessary to be actively listening to the program. In fact, one ideal way to learn any new language is to simply make a habit of tuning in to these programs while doing household chores. The ear picks up on expressions and grammar and syntax, even during periods of 'tuning out,' i.e., inactive listening.

Question:

What is the best way to convince someone to do something that they dread doing?

Answer:

The best way to approach this situation is to focus on all of the positive aspects of the dreaded task. One could point out that there is an inherent educational value in any situation. For example, when completing a task thoroughly, there is always the opportunity to learn new skills; develop confidence; and establish good habits. Also, the very act of completing these dreaded tasks offers us the opportunity to improve our character, and to achieve our individual goals.
