Question:

Describe the causes and effects of the events of "Bleeding Kansas".

Answer:

Some of the notable causes of the bloody events of "Bleeding Kansas" included the idea that the issue of slavery in Kansas Territory would be decided by popular sovereignty rather than a congressional vote such as the Missouri Compromise of 1820. It was fiercely opposed by northern abolitionists but was quickly passed and signed by President Franklin Pierce. As a result, northern abolitionists began organizing groups to begin settling Kansas Territory to combat Missourians who were beginning to move into Kansas Territory. The clash of these two groups would soon set the spark for the bloody events that followed. The effects of Bleeding Kansas would lead to renewed animosity and hatred between abolitionists and slavery groups in not only the state, but in the country. This led the country to be divided even further and is considered one of the causes of the Civil War soon afterwards.

Answer:

(-15x-10)-(x-3) = (-16x-20) +13 -15x-10-x+3 = -16x-20+13 -16x-7 = -16x-7 -16x/-16x=-7-7 0 = 0 The above statement is true for all values of x and therefore all real numbers are solutions to the given equation.
