My name is Gianluca Capraro. I recently graduated from the University of Michigan as a Mechanical Engineer and have spent the past year working as a Product manager at Dish Network. I am a passionate iPhone app designer that loves creating simple, fun to play games and intuitive applications that can make life easier. My hobbies include playing soccer, hiking, skiing, and graphic design. Throughout elementary, middle and high school, math and science were my favorite subjects and helped develop my curiosity for the way the world works.
From my first summer of high school to my last, I was a camp counselor for an all-day outdoor activities and sports summer camp. During this time I was a teacher for the soccer camp where I taught the basics of the sport to groups of kids from ages 6-12. For this internship I traveled to Guadalajara and Juarez, Mexico to value stream map the DISH Network receiver remanufacturing process from the beginning of the supply chain to the end. This was done to identify process inefficiencies and propose improvements to reduce costs and disruptions.

Performed research on current diagnostic and prognostic manufacturing techniques used to respond to disruptions and mitigate risks. As part of this project, I developed a paper documenting the literature review that was performed to examine the current state of manufacturing and supply chain process strategies. This paper also included a discussion of the similarities of both the supply chain and manufacturing entities and made proposals to take successful strategies from each to apply to the other.

For this internship I critically analyzed bugs impacting the performance of handheld military devices and contributed to the design and functionality of the tactical applications to provide the most intuitive and safe experience for soldiers.
