How do glasses help people see far away objects more clearly?
People that are nearsighted, or have Myopia, have trouble seeing far distances while nearby objects are clear. This is because light is focused in front of the retina of the eye, causing far away objects to seem blurry. To fix this problem, a diverging lens in used to retract the light onto the retina, for a sharper image.
What is DNA and how is it passed down to offspring?
DNA, otherwise known as Deoxyribonucleic Acid, is a molecule made up different nucleotides, or "building blocks". DNA carries specific nucleotide sequences which ultimately make up our identities. These sequences are passed down from our parents in the form of genes, which code for our hair color, eye color, diseases, etc.
What is the Human Nervous System and how does it function?
The Nervous System is a web of nerve cells that allows the body to communicate within itself and the environment. The nervous system is divided into two main categories, Central (brain and spinal cord) and Peripheral (outside of the brain and spinal cord). Although the Nervous System contains multiple cell types, Neurons are the most important because they transmit electrical signals to other neurons, allowing the flow of information to, or away from the brain and spinal cord.
