Answer:

If you were creating an application that needed to handle different types of vehicles. But all vehicles have a color property, for example. So a super class could be just `vehicle` with a public const function called `color()` that returns an enum of the color. Then a sub-class for a sedan, motorcycle, truck, semi, etc. Each with its own implementation of a `int wheels()` function.

Question:

What are the benefits of buffered I/O?

Answer:

In general, making system calls alone are slow. Buffering allows you to make a single system call, optimized to the limitations of the system itself, and buffer what is not yet used. Thus, when the library call is called again, the buffer is accessed rather than waiting on the system call.
