What is "passive voice"?
The passive voice is a grammatical construction. A passive voice construction occurs when you make the object of an action into the subject of a sentence. Use of the passive voice is not a grammatical error, but rather a stylistic choice that can obscure the clarity of a sentence's meaning. An example of the passive voice would be: "The pizza was eaten by the student". You can see that while this sentence is grammatically correct, it would be simpler and more clear to say "The students ate the pizza".
What is denouement?
Denouement is a literary device. It is the resolution of the issue or issues of a plot in a work of fiction. Denouement is driven by the climax and resolves the conflicts in the story.
What is a thesis statement?
A thesis statement is a sentence in the introductory paragraph of an essay that states the main idea of the essay. It makes an argumentative or persuasive declaration that the writer then backs up with facts and examples in the following body paragraphs. It should be focused and specific, appear towards the end of the introductory paragraph and also be restated in the concluding paragraph of the essay.
