Question:

What is a bacterium that is an obligate anaerobe?

Natalie S.
Answer:

It is a bacterium that does not survive in the presence of oxygen but is a living organism. The presence of oxygen acts as a poison, so in a tube, they grow and gather at the bottom where there is a lack of oxygen. The agent of tetanus, Clostridium tetani, is an example of an obligate anaerobe.

Question:

Describe the flow of blood throughout the heart.

Natalie S.
Answer:

Blood enters the heart through the inferior and superior vena cava into the right atrium. It goes through the right atrium into the right ventricle through the tricuspid valve. Blood leaves the ventricle through the pulmonic valve and enters the pulmonary artery, dispersing to the lungs. The blood returns through the pulmonary vein into the left atrium. From the left atrium, blood flows through the mitral valve into the left ventricle. Blood exits through the aortic valve and into the aorta and the body.
