I have a Ph.D. in chemistry and really love helping people. I am very invested in helping students really understand the concepts (instead of just memorizing). I also teach how to figure out what the problem is asking and the steps you should take when solving the problem. I will try many different ways of explaining the topic/steps until the student really gets it. Chemistry is not as hard or scary as you think!
I have been tutoring various subjects since I was 14 years old and really enjoy working one-on-one with students. I have been tutoring and teaching university-level and AP level chemistry since 2004. I was an instructor for several years at Penn State University before moving to Philadelphia. I have tutored students from universities in Florida, Illinois, California, Michigan and Pennsylvania.
The Pennsylvania State University, Chemistry Instructor
2015 - 2017
Taught the first two semesters of general chemistry (both lecture and lab)
The Pennsylvania State University, Lab supervisor
2014 - 2017
Trained graduate students as teaching assistants and supervised lab sections for both semesters of general chemistry (and a specialized section of general chemistry with a food chemistry emphasis). I also edited the lab manuals for all three courses.
The Pennsylvania State University, Teaching assistant and co-instructor
2013 - 2015
I was a teaching assistant for lecture (both semesters of general chemistry) and the lab course (both semesters of general chemistry), and was a co-instructor for the second semester general chemistry lecture course.
